Well, like I said before, Jim, a download count really doesn't give you ANY
indication whatsoever of how many people have even looked at it. I suspect
just about every Mac Users' Group in the country has a "hunter/gatherer," "Disk
Czar," or equivalent who download practically everything here. They may never
look at it, though.
Of course, that IS ignoring the obvious cases of folks forgetting to pay
shareware fees, not noticing it's shareware, not WANTING to pay, etc. Still,
don't assume EVERYBODY is that way.
As a side note, though, assuming my MIDI project sees light, it won't have copy
protection. I will not write anything that's copy protected in ANY way ever
again.

I agree 100%. I've never used any copy protection, and never plan to do so. I
was just discussing the "nudging the user" topic on an abstract level. I
applaud anyone who has made a profit on shareware, but don't think I've "got
the knack" for whatever reason.
I would be very interested to hear about your MIDI project, if it's something
you're in a position to discuss.

That's for sure. I've had more requests for a program to be on a given "disk of
the month" than I've had shareware payments!
