#AA Pro without CD-ROM?
9 messages in this thread
I am considering upgrading from AutoDesk Animator to AA Pro. However, I do not
currently have a CD-ROM. I have been planning to get one in the next 6-12
months, hoping that they will get faster and cheaper. Can anyone tell me if AA
Pro is reasonably functioanl without being able to access the library on the
CD-ROM? Or is it pretty much pointless to get it without being able to access
the CD-ROM?
Thanks, Ellison
After getting a couple of fonts out of the CD ROM and into my Hard Disk, I very
rarely need the CD. Granted I use 3DS' CD quite a lot. It all depends. But…
go for it. You will be able to do everything without the CD. By the time you do
get a CD player you will have access to a ton of different fonts, maps,
backgrounds, etc.
Thank you very much. This is very helpful to me.

All functional programs are on floppies. The CD-ROM contains graphic samples
that are not needed to operate the programs.

Thanks, Jack.

I hope you're aware of the upgrade program tha Autodesk is currently offering
— AA to AApro for $147. Call 1-800-435-7771 and mention promotion E45. The
promotion expires August 31.

That's why I'm considering getting it now, Dave. 🙂
I was planning to wait a while, but this looks like too good a deal to pass up.
Just thought I'd make sure! Wouldn't want you spending any more than you have
to, would we?<g>

I agree with Gus. Your main "loss" for not having the CD will be access to the
PostScript fonts. As Jack says, the program's on the floppies.
