#Unsupported TGA formats
5 messages in this thread
TGA is a format all by itself, and as far as I know, only comes two ways,
compressed and uncompressed, unless you want to start getting into pixel depth,
but a TGA is a TGA. the rest of your question is a can of worms. Did you have
any particular software in mind? Most paint and raster based image programs
support many of the common formats, or can easily be converted from one to
another until you find common ground.
Tim:
There are actually a few different versions of Targa files, aside from
compressed and uncompressed, even with different types of compression.
Different footer information, postage stamp of image, does the image start
in the upper left or lower left corner of the screen, etc.

new information to me. Thanks. I generally don't like to give people wrong
information if at all possible. This will help.
Example would be….. Adesk 3d studio created compressed TGA file is
not understood by Photostyler software, yet Paintshop pro understands it. If
loaded into paintshop pro and saved it is then understood by photostyler.
Another example is something that I downloaded off of this service. 3Dmesh,
and maps etc. …..My 3d studio does not understand the TGA format given….
Thanks for the reply

Yea, I have run into that problem. I find the easiest solution is to remember
to turn off the compress button and leave all images uncompressd if at all
possible and then just zip them if need be. I keep meaning to check if there is
a setting in 3ds.set for default compression, but I always forget…
