Gary: Are you going to have another killer demo reel for Siggraph this year? Evan

Of course! We've topped ourselves in a big way this year… the reel is 30+ minutes long, and it moves FAST. We've been working on it for a couple of months now. Work from a dozen different countries is represented, and the all-original music includes almost a thousand custom sound effects. In fact, I'm on my way out the door to a triple D-1 session now! See ya in Anaheim, Evan… – G

Hi Gary, I know you must be busy, however, I's like to see us start a thread about the actual mixing of audio with the animation. I for one haven't got a clue on how it's done, but if there are some here that have done it before…. why not share the info with novices like myself? The reason why I bring this up is that we all know that an animation–no matter how amazing–isn't really complete until it has a soundtrack. Thanks in advance. Alex.

Is there going to be some mechanism for those of us that can't pry out the travel money to get to SIGGRAPH to get a copy of the video? I suppose I can lean on my local dealer to borrow a copy (actually they have been quite nice about that kind of thing) but I picked up one when I went to SIGGRAPH in Dallas (And, after showing the video around at work I got approval to put together an 3DS based animation system of my own. I eventually bought one for myself at home!) Chris

I'm not sure, Chris. Currently, the only plans for the Siggraph video are to distribute 1,000 of them on Tuesday night as party favors, and to do some sort of raffle thing with another few hundred at the booth. It has not been determined yet as to what will happen during the following month or so. I recommend that if you want a copy of the video, put the word out here on the forum to someone who's going and has the means to copy theirs for you. Send them some tape stock and a SASE, and it shouldn't be too difficult. It'll be second-generation VHS, but it'll be better than nothing. – G

OK, thanks. I'll try to see what I can arrange. Chris

Chris: In the past, you could order Siggraph demo reels through your 3DS dealer. Evan

For us poor souls who won't make it to sunny California for this year's SIGGRAPH…. how do we get a copy of the demo reel? Dan ps – We'll just see how many of you make the trek to OTown (Orlando) for SIG 94!!! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE. Anyone out there gonna be here for ITEC in December?

Dan, check out my response to Chris Johnston (#50929) regarding the same question. – G PS: Orlando in August '94… hey, does it get hot and humid in central Florida in August? *groan*

"hey, does it get hot and humid in central Florida in August? *groan*" ….it's something you have to experience to believe…. <double groan> Steve

Just after composing my message concerning the demo reel, I did read your note to Mr. Johnston. Sounds as though we are on our own. As far as August weather in Orlando, we joke that the forecast is the same every single day that time of year… 75 in the morning, 95 in the afternoon, 98% humidity, 70% chance of afternoon thundershowers. Lovely, really. Glad SIGGRAPH is inside! I can't wait!! Dan

I think I'll book a room inside of the convention center, if possible. (and I'll bring a big sponge) – G

Let me know if you need a water boy for that sponge! Dan
