Is there some way to retrieve my matlibs directory from the 3ds
disk without reinstalling the whole program. I tried to install the 3ds2
under a different directory then my active 3ds. But I keep getting a
message "The compressed file A:3dsw.pt2 has been damaged" tried to continue
and got "Bad file number 0, Unable to close file c:\3ds2\3ds.exe"
I hope this is due to the fact that I already have 3ds on the same
machine. All I need is the 3ds.mli library. Yes I wiped mine out.
Any info will be of great help.

It sounds like the 3dsw.pt2 file has been damaged on disk2. I'd recommend
that you try installing the intel version to A SEPARATE subdirectory, just
so you can get the 3ds.mli file. Then, move the 3ds.mli file over to your
working matlibs subdirectory and nuke all the newly-installed stuff.

I've tried both versions,W & I, but keep getting the error message. These
worked fine a month ago or so when I was updating to 2.01 and then had to
reload 2.0 and then back to 2.01 again. But in that case I was just using
the upgrade option on the install program not the full blown installation.
My local dealer did the initial installation. Hmmm? Quess I'll be giving
him a call. In the mean time if you think or any one has had this problem
please let me know.
Is there a file of the 3ds.mli on this forum I can down load.

It sounds like disk 2 must've gotten corrupted, somehow. I've got a stock
3ds.mli on a tape backup around here somewhere, but it would take me a bit
of time to dig it up (or I'd have to reinstall). I'm willing to go to the
trouble if nobody else has a stock 3ds.mli handy, but I'd rather put the
word out for some other good samaritan to zip their 3ds.mli up and email it
on over to you first. If no luck by Tuesday night, give me a shout.

You guys sure help a lot. I wish there was something I could get you all
for Christmas. Maybe a little Florida sun, or rain. We have plenty of both
and even, sometimes, at the same time.
