This is a question for A1200 users who have a hard drive. I just got a new 84 meg HD (conner) I used SysInfo 3.22 to check out the speed. It gave me 730 000 bytes/sec. Seams slow to me. Should I get a different HD?

You should probably get a different performance program first. Something like Mike Sinz program or DiskPerf. -bill

Ok, I'll try to find that. Are those PD's?

Eugene; I am only marking headers and reading selected messages from this section and my memory is not as good as the machines… I suspect that your question is related to DiskPerf and DiskSpeed. I believe that both are here in one of the libraries. I don't think that either is PD (Public Domain) but both are either FreeWare or ShareWare and Mike Sinz is on CIS I believe. -bill

That sounds typical of the stock 1200 and the drives I've installed. Between 600-900k seems typical. You can play around with the MAXTRANSFER value, but with some drives if the value is too large, files can get corrupted.

Ok, I will try that. Thanks.
