#Invalid project file

Greg-
I think remembering once, that you left a message on this forum that
when loading up a .prj and one gets the message "INVALID PROJECT FILE"
it really meant or could mean _________. Do you remember what you said?
I'm getting this message on a couple of my .prj files now, when I try to
load them into 3ds.
Thanks
Carl
Carl,
There are two reasons I have come across for this error to occur. One is that
you have corrupted files for some reason. Check your hard disk integrety. Have
you had problems reading any files into other programs? The other reason I have
heard is when you try to read a .PRJ file into an older version of 3DS. If the
file fails on the older version, but can still be read into the original, save
each module individually and load them in that way.

Thanks for the reply. I did do a defrag on the disk and I am afraid
that this might have something to do with it. But as I stated in my
first message Greg had said something about incorrect map paths or something, I
hope this is all because I can't find the back up .prj to
this file which I have been working on for 6 months.
Also I have noticed on another .prj file I can load it alright but when
I go to render a sceen from the .prj, the machine hangs up at "PREPARING
MAPS….." and I have to reboot the computer to start again.
Any body else on this forum had similuar problems.
By the way what do you mean by "loading each module seperate" from a
.prj file.
Thanks
Carl
