#IDE broken on 386bboard?

Bridgeboard trouble again 🙁
Anyone help with the following.
I'm using a 2386sx 25mhz bboard with a multi i/o svga board. This also has
a floppy and IDE port. Everything works well except the IDE. Consequently
this also means that my nice new 170mb Conner drive can't be used.
I've tried both the video/ide card and the hdrive in another bboard, also
a friends 486. Both work fine.
Would you think that the problems suggest either a broken daughter board
in my A3000 or a broken mother board as far as the IDE goes. On the other
hand is there some address or IRQ that the IDE uses that maybe conflicting
with something else. I'm not at all clued up on PC addressess. BTW, this
is the 2nd bboard.

Pete,
It's possible that your problem may be the need to insert TWO lines in
your startup AFTER running Binddrivers. Add RUN PCReset TWICE in the startup.
Another possibility is to check that you enabled the IDE controller. The board
normally ships with the IDE jumper set to OFF. A third possibility is that you
have a board with a particular controller chip that doesn't work in some
machines. If this is the card that EMC sells made by Oak, there are some
boards with a controller chip that apparently doesn't work in some Amigas. I
happen to have two of them that work fine, even tho they have the chip that
doesn't work most of the time. There is a different version of the chip on
some boards which works fine. If you bought the board from EMC you should call
Dave about it. He is aware of the problem.

I checked on the multi board and the IDE is enabled. The board is by
Viglen, I don't know if that name is known in the US but they do very well
over here. In the manual that comes with the multi board there is
reference to 'Current IDE drives' and 'Old IDE drive types'. I'm wondering
if there is any significance in that. The board is set to current.
I havn't seen any reference to IDE on the bboard. Is there a jumper to
configure for that?

OK, you don't have the board I thought you might have. I am not
familiar with the one you have, so my prior comments may not be relevant. I
don't know what current or old IDE types refers to. You might check the drive
to be sure it's set to Master (if it's the only drive you have) or Slave (if
you already have another IDE drive on the buss.) Beyond that I'm not sure what
I can tell you. You need to be sure the drive is setup correctly for the board
and that the board is set up correctly. Afraid that's about the best I can do,
for now.
