A1291

GVP Tech,
I'm having MAJOR problems with my A1291 (specifically attached to a Maxtor
7040s drive).
Situation/Eqpt.
A1291 (Rev 2.0, replaced original faulty unit) attached to the A1230 with
1Mb RAM installed onboard.
Maxtor drive is set at SCSI ID#5, when I run FastPrep Software (Version of
gvpscsi.device) I get the following errors which I understand are
Termination/Cabling problems; unnexpected status: $49/$45
I've tried, both internal and external (two different external
terminators) termination, a 2meter cable and 30cm cable.
I have the hardware manual for the Maxtor, if you want any technical info,
let me know, but this has been going on with various SCSI devices for 4
MONTHS now 🙁 which ALL work on PCs and/or Macs.

Kevin,
Was the A1230 ever brought in to be looked at?
You mention that the A1291 was replaced. Did it work with ANYTHNG after
receiving it back?
Do you gain access to the drive after cancelling these messages?
Which SCSI devices have you tried?
Do you have an IDE drive?
Which version of FastPrep and GVPSCSI.DEVICE are you using?
Please get back to me with answers to these and I'll see what we can do.
Thanks.

>Was the A1230 ever brought in to be looked at?
No, it's operated fine ever since I bought it in January, nobody ever
said to get it checked, so I never bothered to return it to the dealer.
>You mention that the A1291 was replaced. Did it work with ANYTHNG after
receiving it back?
No. Same as the original version, with the same errors.
>Do you gain access to the drive after cancelling these messages?
Yes, I can prep the drive, then I get the errors again. It seems to be
whenever the controller reads the drive settings that this error occurs.
Rebooting and using the drive does not cause the problem, however when
ever I run the Fast/ExpertPrep Software I get the same errors.
>Which SCSI devices have you tried?
2 x Maxtor 7040s Hard Drive. 1 x Tandberg TDC3600 Tape Streamer (Mode
select error) and Apple CD-ROM (the CD was the only device I got to
operate marginally okay)
>Do you have an IDE drive?
Yes, 60Mb Internal connected to the A1200's IDE Bus. Disabled the IDE
drive and booted from floppy then ran Prep s/w and got the same errors.
Which version of FastPrep and GVPSCSI.DEVICE are you using?
FastPrep Version 2.5 (and another dowloaded from CIS which has been
deleted) gvpscsi.device versions 5.0 (currently) and 5.3 downloaded from
CIS.
See other message posted for extra info.
Thanks for your interest and help.
