Forum Wars
29 messages in this thread
This come too late,
I have returned to Madrid today and I have been without the laptop for all
these days (I wanted it and it has been a pleasure, really 🙂 But here I come,
to the beloved Asoft club and what have I found? More of the same illogical
ranting. More of the same stupid personal attacks. More of the same irrational
"thinking". This time I have been the objective, the target of the stupid
insult, the arrogant attitude and the factoid bombs.
Most people here knows me and knows my thoughts about life, art, computers, 3DS
and many other topics in which I have been involved for about two years. I have
shared my _personal_ views with the people here and people have shared their
_personal_ views with the rest of the _human beings_ in the forum. Everything,
or 99.9% of the time, with a basic rule which can summarize any code of
behaviour IN the forum and OUT of the forum. We all know how this works not
because it is written. We know it because it is "the natural way of doing
things". This basic rule is called _Respect_. And this comes from the, as many
philosophers have described, most of basic of the human rights: _Dignity_.
But I am bot entering in philosophy arguments (this time <g>)
Please, I know that all of us have been said this more than once in this
section, let's try to _understand_, to _think_ rationaly and leave the
"passion" for the traffic jams, to build discussions and not Forum Wars.
Thanks for reading,

ps. And thanks to the people who jumped in with the same idea.
Ana,
it's good to have you back on-line from Madrid, Ana! Don't worry about the
ranting and raving, we all become the target at some point. It is better to
just rise above it, if possible.
Hi Martin!
Thanks for the bienvenue! 🙂 I think that everyone here could do a little more
to help keeping the forum in "peace". Not that 99.9% of the people are peaceful
100% of the time, but we all can try to ignore the ocassional forum ghosts and
don't get into nonsense battles that won't change anything.
Cheers!

I'm glad you took the whole nasty buisness in stride. There's no way to
completetly stop idiots from mouthing off in a public place – the best armor is
a good attitude like yours.
I was worried that you got pissed off and decided to let the forum and its
flamers rot for a while… glad to hear you were just without a computer
(actually, I like doing that once in a while <g>).

Thanks for the reply John! We all have been in strong discussions more than
once here (including you and me) but there were NEVER a personal attack and,
what the heck!, it was fun 😉

Yeah! Only one week, but it is a pleasure. I have been vacationing in an early
17th century castle in Galicia (Northwest Spain). There is called a "pazo" and
it is wonderful. The wild north sea, a little fisher's town in the valley, the
pazo in the high, high deep green forests, the medieval atmosphere. It have
become my place of total retirement since 1991. I have been without computer,
but not without a big drawing pad and tons of pencils 🙂 Ideas come to me like
Cheers!

Oh man, Galicia… I'm jealous. I'm not going to be able to leave the country
this year, unless I get an unexpected break and some extra $$$. I NEED a
vacation, though.
I like arguing with you. It IS fun! Hopefully we'll get to do it in person
some time… <g>

You're gonna need them, you know how tall this guy is? <g>

The taller he is the harder his head will crash to the floor <g>
And we thought that we got violent threads in the past… ha! 🙂

My your a fiesty bugger! Do you like to wrestle? That sounds like it might be
fun. <G>

One two, one two, mmphhht! 🙂

Actually, Ana, my arguing style includes standing on my head just to avoid such
head-crashing situations. I'll be prepared.

That was a funny image! 🙂

Que huevona!
Alec Jason
I think you have seen to many mexican movies, Alec <g> Do you know the exact
meaning of that word? Thanks god the forum talks english, not mexicanized
castillian!
ana /krazy images
Ana,
Si se lo que la palabra significa! Es como un chiste adentro de un chiste: una
mezcla de ingles y espanol.
Si he fallado, desculpame. Si no, dame una risa.

Some forums do not allow *any* messages in foreign languages,
specifically to prevent problems with inappropriate "colloquialisms."
This is a family forum — in any language.

Ana, while you were gone, there was quite a large thread called "grumble,
grumble…" on this very topic. There seems to be strong agreement here that
people should be courteous and respectful, count to 10 before jumping into
heated discussions, and reread their replies before pressing the -send- button.
I've noticed a "kinder, gentler" attitude here during the past week, perhaps
people have gotten the message that they were taking this stuff much too
seriously.
BTW… I saw your KRAZY.JPG image and it's nice to associate a face to the
"voice". Thanks for sharing it. I don't dare upload -my- face… I would
never live it down! <g>
Thanks for the info David. It seems that I missed quite a few things these
days.
The image was an old promise to Martin and other forumers. I wish we could have
not only an face but a real voice to associate with this ASCII soup 🙂 Then we
would be able to read messages like in the movies: with an echo voice reading
the message in our minds <g>

Are you attending Siggraph? I think a lot of us will be meeting up there.
Nope. I will miss Siggraph (again 🙁 I will pass those days in europe. Worst
thing is that I will miss Imagina in Montecarlo next year too for being in the
US <argh>
I will be at Comdex, though.
ana /krazy images
Hi Ana,
<< Nope. I will miss Siggraph (again 🙁 I will pass those days in europe.>>
Again bummer!!… I am looking forward to getting your postcard tho'. :->
The postcard must be in the Azores right now 🙂
ana /krazy images
>> I will miss Imagina in Montecarlo next year too
I never heard of Imagina. What is the theme of that conference?
Everything that has to do with computer imaging. Generally speaking, is more
elitist than Siggraph. You know, we europeans always giving that exclusive
touch to everything <BG>
ana /krazy images
Imagina is like an artsy fartsy European Siggraph, held in Monte Carlo (I
believe). I'd LOVE to go sometime, just to be in Monte Carlo again.

>> …just to be in Monte Carlo again.
Again?!? Too bad we don't all have such regrets! <g>
I lived in Munich, Germany for 12 years (my first twelve) so we used to go
there once in a while on vacation. I have fond memories.
