IMP&FLC
6 messages in this thread
Tech Support, I have been trying to use ImageFx IMP to translate Anim files
into FLC/FLI for the PC platform. I actually did it once with success
(although the scaleing was wrong) it did play using Windows Media player. I
have since not been able to get it to work. I've tried various resolotions and
screen modes – NG! If you could post here a basic tutorial on how to do this
with any restrictions, how IMFX should be set uo as well as IMP. I need this
info ASAP for a work-related project!
Thanks in advance, John Horton
John,
The only thing I know about this issue is to make sure you use the FOREIGN (VGA
resolution) render module and set the ANIM FORMAT to FLC. Everything else
should follow the same procedure as making an ANIM file.

Kermit said he was going to upload a file on the subject. Do you think you
could check with him. After his first reply (about uploading the file) I
havn't heard from him.

Kermit, I did get it and try it. I am still having a problem, although I think
the problem may be how I'm rendering it. After I load IMP I set IMFX to render
HamLaced (I do not have an AGA Amiga). I suspect that I will have to go to
Hi-res (16 colors). Is there any way to have IMFX 'remap' a ham screen down to
256 colors (without AGA)? Also when I take a file I've converted to FLC, and
load it into MicroSoft animation editor I get an error 'unexpected end of
file'. I followed the directions that came with the update you sent me. Also
does the save format AND the Anim format have to be set to FLC?
Thanks, John
Rendering HAMLaced definitely is going to produce wierd FLCs. You need to use
the FOREIGN render module to render 256 color images then add those to the FLC
animation. I'm not familar with any of Microsoft's animation editors so I
don't know what it might not like. Try playing with the IMP settings to see
which it prefers.
