Hi, Doug The theory of lunar volcanism seems to be alive and kicking in Thailand; this theory I am told originated from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center at Greenbelt Maryland. I have also been told that NASA undertook several missions on one of the Shuttles to photograph the region in the hopes of locating evidance of an impact crater, the results of which were inconclusive. So I am none the wiser. I wonder if anybody at NASA has more detailed results from their surveys. I don't have any information on other fields other than that the field is generaly grouped as the 'Pacific Tektite Field' that includes: Indochinites, Philippinites, Rizalites, Billtonites, Javaites, Australites. All the above having the same chemical composition. I guess from the 'kids' you are a teacher; School or University ? I not to sure of the classification of shapes myself. The red-blood-cell shape I referred to is the disc shape. It could be what you call a button. The dumbbell looks just like a small dog bone. The dumbbell seems to have been rotating at speed to cause the elongation. For the blood-cell shape this could also been caused by rotation, the melt lines on the upper surface could give the clue. Yes the $20 figure applies to the 3" RBC shape. Maybe you would be interested in trading; this I think is more fun. I am interested in most fossils or minerals as I don't have a vast collection.
