#Can A4000 play CD32?????

Does anyone know if there is a lists of CDTV and/or CD32 games that will work
with a SCSI equipped 4000 with a CD drive?. I just bought a double speed NEC
CD drive for my 4000 and while I'm planning on sharing the drive between the
Amiga and the Emlant side (Mac stuff), I'd like to be able to play some Amiga
CD games as well. I'd read somewhere that some games (with a little Degrader
intervention) work but I don't know which ones exactly. Any thoughts here….

The guy that runs Better Concepts (1-800-25AMIGA) told me he was putting
together a list of runnable CDTV/CD32s a while back. You might give him a
call.
Labyrinth of Time CD32 will run on most all Amigas according to the
article in June '94 AW. Most reviews say the game is nothing more than a
pretty slide show however. I tried to get the Groliers encyclopedia CDTV
to run on my 1200 with no luck. Tried degrader, turning off caches and
running in ECS mode. Never made it through the startup sequence. One of
the biggest problems seems to be the fact that both the CD32 and CDTV want
a joystick type controller in port 1 instead of a mouse.
I have got the Pinball Fantasies *demo* to run off of the CD32 magazine
cover disc with no problem. I would assume the real thing would run as
well.

Thanks for the info. Will give him a call. BTW, are you able to run regular
CD's (music) on your A1200 and have the audio output come out using the A1200
audio ports or do you have to attach a headphone directly to the CD drive. I'm
not too keen on the internals on the A1200 but the A4000 motherboard has a 3
pin internal audio port, sort of what you attach a CD drive to the sound cards
on the IBM world. And according to the A4000 manual, this is in order to have
the audio output interface with the Amiga audio ports. I haven' tried it yet,
just wondering if it's the same on the A1200. Catya,
I haven't really checked into whether I can hook up the CD's output
thought the Amiga hardware. I have played music through headphones but
found it kind of silly. I have a audio cd player down the hall that I can
run remotely from the computer room via AirLink so haven't found much use
for music through the CD ROM reader. Besides. it's a PITA to take the
discs in and out of those caddies.<g>

Like I said before… just thought I throw that at you. At the same time it
seems like a waste not to be able to use the Amiga's audio ports to play the
audio CDs since I got these ports hooked up to an amplifier. In any case, I'll
give it a try, hopefuly I won't end up blowing my motherboard components.

Asimware, is looking to use the Amiga as a direct CD sampling
and out put device. This means you would not have that loop
around from front of your CD to the back of your Amiga where your
sampler is any more.
I talked to them recently and there is still no release date. BTW
they are the manufacture of AsimCDFS and will probably require
that you own the software to get this utility.

PMFJI, but it is possible to feed a line level signal into the final
output stage of the Amiga's audio system. In effect this mixes the audio
from the CD with the audio from the Amiga.
There's a company that sells an adaptor that plugs into a 3 pin header on
the 4000 motherboard and comes out to an edge card bracket with 2 RCA
sockets or a stereo mini-plug (your choice.)
