Hi to everyone! I have a "non 3D-Studio" question but I think there are a lot of animator who can help me… I want to morph a sequence of images into a sequence of images (2D-morph of a video sequence). I have WinImages: morph and that works really fine with stills. But now my customer wants to have the following. A shot were you can see some people in a disco. While they`re walking their clothes changes from one outfit to an other. I think that could look really great but I don`t have any idea wich program on PC can manage this. Here`s my question: Is there a PC-program which can morph one sequence to an other (and write 24/32 bit tga-files (field rendering would be great))? And if not is there a work-around? Hi Michael, << I want to morph a sequence of images into a sequence of images (2D-morph of a video sequence). The version that I have had for quite sometime *_does do_* "motion morphing" per your description. My copy is version 1.06b. In fact, there is an even newer version that I don't have yet. They recently announced this new version, and a new version of WinImages F/X – both for $29.95. Obviously, a *very* reasonable upgrade price, I just haven't gotten around to ordering it. My version will not field render though. Regards, BILL

Hi Bill! I`ve WinImages: morph version 1.10 from 1993. I bought it in August last year when I visited Greg Pyros. I have sent them my reg. card but they didn`t told me anything about a update. And I think Release 1.10 is new than 1.06b!??? Now I`m very very confused… What is current version of winimages: morph? And can it morph sequenz of images into a sequenz of images? << What is current version of winimages: morph? And can it morph sequenz of images into a sequenz of images? >> As I indicated in my original message__YES. Absolutely, positively – including Alpha handling. I have no knowledge relating to the sequence of releases, but I have received a couple of upgrades in 1994. WRT the *_very latest_* release, I learned yesterday that it has been "recalled" due to bugs. However, you should be able to obtain the version I have, which will morph sequences. I suggest you contact Blackbelt directly. In fact, I believe you can contact them as "Blackbelt" here via CIS. Regards, BILL

Hi Bill! You`re right! I`ve found the motion morph feature in the online – help. I`ll contact blackbelt for updating my version and then I4ll make my customer happy with a nice motion morph… Thanks again… BTW: RayMan`s beta will come to you in a few days… (hopefully 🙂 ) Michael – Michael Bassier, Written 08-Jul-1994 @ 08:45:14 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.2

<< You`re right! I`ve found the motion morph feature in the online – help. >> Great, glad you got that straightened out. BTW, it works pretty well. Look foward to receiving the s/w. Regards, BILL

Michael, I think that ALL versions of Winimages: morph will do sequence morphing. check the online help and look under the topic of "Motion Morphing". David PS. I REALLY wish the program had a REAL manual. The online docs are pretty sad.

Hi David! Oh, I`m so stupid! But it was very hot in Germany in the last days and that heat did some things with my brain… I`ve found the motion morph feature in the online help and now I UNDERSTAND how to use it… (Today I`ll print out the whole online – reference. Can`t live without a book…) Michael – Michael Bassier, Written 08-Jul-1994 @ 08:47:31 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.2

<I want to morph a sequence of images into a sequence of images> This is one of those cases when an "old fashion" match dissolve (film or video) will probably be more cost-time effective. Have your models walk a predetermined path (even use the music track as a metronome) and the have them walk the same path again with another set of clothes. Then "match dissolve the sequence" using the most prominent models as a key. There are more sophisticated ways of doing this but this is quick and fun and it works!

While your suggestion does work it will give a different look than true morphing. At any rate the same acting that you described must be followed for each. Your dissolve is quick and unsophistocated but the morph will give the true transformation look many clients are willing to pay for.

In that case I would recommend Metaflo by the Valis Group in Tiburon, CA. 800 825-4704 or if you need to talk to the genius that programmed this jewel, call Boris at (415) 492-0418. This program (Mac only with a PC version coming out by the end of the year) will do what you want in a very automated way. Using the alpha channel either their own or imported from any other program (such as Photoshop) will create a sort of "travelling matte" of source and target and allow you to morph a series of frames just the way you need. Check it out
