I know that this is a strange place to put this question, but I figured that
everyone here uses the forum and would be having the same problems.
I am using WinCIM 1.3 to retrieve and store and view the messages in the forums
I visit. I find it very brain dead to work with. Trying to follow threads
retrieved over a few visits is almost totally impossible. I found a viewer in
it Library Section ( of this forum I think ) but it doesn't seem to work.
Does anybody have something better? Something that can order threads by
something other than the date only? Has anybody written anything?
Failing all of these, would anybody know where I can find out the layout of the
files and then I'll just write something myself! These messages can be
extremely helpful, but, as with any information, it is only as useful as it is
accessable. And using WinCIM makes them not very accessible.

There are several CIS Offline Navigators available that support thread
management/viewing. OzCIS(GO OZCIS), TapCIS(GO TAPCIS), NavCIS(GO DVORAK) and
others. I am associated with NavCIS so I cannot offer my opinion on any of
the mentioned products. Perhaps other members of this forum can.
There are several navigators available. I tried WinNAV, OzCIS, NavCIS, and I
think another one or two before settling on WigWam; there are things about it
that I'd like to see improved, but it has the user interface that I find most
intuitive. You can download a demo then register if you like it; check UKCOMMS
Section 12 for more info if you're interested. -steve

There are two utilities that will do what yo want. Go CSNAV and search for
filenames tt110.zip and mxf100.zip. The first will extract all threads from a
given file cabinet and create a single text file out of it. The second will
read in the newly created text file, sort it by subject and eliminate duplicate
messages. Then you can use your wp to find what you want.
If you use WinWord, PC Magazine(Jun 14) published a macro that will take that
kind of text file and outline it, allowing you to expand/collapse threads.
Note that these (free)utilities work with CSNAV and WinCIM.

You are probably looking for an offline reader.
At least most have built in what you are asking for.
I use Ozcis (DOS-based) for two years now an am very pleased. GO OZCIS. It is
shareware and costs 20$ to register.
There will be a Windows version RSN. I ordered it blind.
