I've been using XCad Designer for a few years now. At one time I had to upgrade the program to work with a 1MB agnus. Now I have an A3000 and XCad will not print correctly. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade to this software? If not, what good CAD programs exist? Carl

Carl, Although I got XCad Pro, I don't use it any longer since I got DynaCadd. DynaCadd for the Amiga is an outstanding program, and I prefer it to any other CAD program, including those very pricy beasts for PC's. I've seen a DEMO of DynaCadd sitting in the libraries here (about 2MB of stuff to d/l). – wkc – … via AP from Hamburg, Germany

Werner, Thanks for the info, BTW does XCad Pro work properly on a 2MB chip machine? How much does DynaCadd retail for these days? Carl

Carl, DynaCadd works on my A4000/40 (2MB Chip – 16MB Fast) and on my A2000/A2630 (1MB Chip – 4MB Fast32 – 2MB Fast16). It needs a 68020+ w/FPU machine. The release version needs a dongle in GamePort #2. And there is a bug whith the INFORM VERIFY command with my version, may crash the system, I hope this is fixed in the newest version. I avoid to use the INFORM command, or save the drawing prior to using it. I bought the program for 2000 DEM (about 1200 USD) three years ago, but I think it will cost much less by now. BTW, it has an PS/EPS output, so I can create drawings and not only print them on my Laser printer, but also import them in DTP prgrams. – wkc – … via AP from Hamburg, Germany

Do you know if they ever removed the Dongle? That's what stopped me from buying it earlier. -Karl

Karl, no, you need the dongle. Most CAD programs only work with a dongle. XCadd Pro (Amiga) needs a little red dongle, RoboCad (a $8000+ prog for PC and Mac) needs one for the parallel port, etc. etc. … Funny thing was, when I once temporarily swapped back to use XCad, I forgot to change dongles. And guess what, XCad Pro worked with the dongle of DynaCadd! Funny! I let the dongle sit in the Port all the time of my A4000. It would only interfere with JoyStick-only games, most of which won't run on KS/WB 3.x AGA machines either. – wkc – … via AP from Hamburg, Germany
