Help! My A500 memory/clock battery is dead. No computer shops around here can replace it. I need specifics on the battery type, voltage, etc. to find a suitable replacement. The battery currently in place is a VARTA 30/60, that's all it says. Maybe a mail-order address for a replacement if you know of one. Thanks. Rich Marlen 71460,1066

Richard, I called CBM years ago when mine went and they acted like it couldn't happen. "Your battery failed? No way!" I opened up the shield and there it was, soldered in place, a fat dead cylindrical bug. I found a replacement that matched it volt for volt and soldered in a clip for it. I doubt that you can find an identical replacement, nobody makes stuff that cheap anymore. Perhaps someone else here can tell you the voltage, I forget. Any lithium battery of sufficient voltage should work, but don't solder it in directly – lithium batteries are dangerous that way if you don't know what you are doing. -John M. Vreeland in Virginia

Are you very sure that it is dead? Have you tried SETCLOCK? Are you using a version other than the original 1.3 release? —Betty
