#CD32 Questions
7 messages in this thread
I'm thinking about purchasing a CD32 and I have what may seem to some a silly
question or two. But since I'm just beginning to explore the CD possibilities
with the Amiga, I'm just not sure of the answers so that's why I'm here.
*Can the CD32 run the Kodak PhotoCD? *Is the CD32 capable of running the
CD-ROM's out there, like
Fred Fish etc.?
Thanks.
Mike
Mike,
Sure the CD32 can handle Kodak Photo CD. The CD32 is a Dual Speed MultSession
Drive. You will however need some software.
If you have ImageFX, there is a shareware Loader which will allow you to load
the Kodak Photo CD software and convert it to other formats, resize it, and
various other manipulations from ImageFx.
If you do not have ImageFX, I beleive there is other software which will alow
it.
The CD32 is capable of reading the fresh fish CD ROMS, but there is one
problem. The fresh fish CD ROM is not bootable, therefore you will need either
an SX-1 Unit with a disk drive for booting WorkBench or a CD ROM that gets
round the reset problem, as when you boot up with a booting CD ROM and then
take it out to replace it with a non-booting CD ROM you will find that the
machine resets. Aggghhhh!!! Bugger eh!
But no probs, get hold of a copy of CD32Bits July edition, should be in the
File List, this contains reviews on a CD that will enable you to get round the
reset problem and network the CD32 to an Amiga and transfer the files accross
without the SX-1 unit.
Leeroy!
Hi !
One CD that avoids a reset is the Network CD from Weird Science.
(The programm it uses is NO RESET from Commo.)
The Photo-CD Software for CD32 is Photolite from Eureka. This is sold on its
own & is also included with the Communicator package.
BTW, the first Communicators were shipped this week, and also the SXi from
Paravision finally arrived.

I didn`t think NO RESET worked too well on the CD`s I`ve seen it on but CD
EXCHANGE VOL 1 gets round it very well. I would like to try a communicator they
sound good at the moment I have SX-1 with 85mb HDD and some fast ram which
makes it much more fun. Gordon Sherry
Hi there !
Well there are some problems with the Communicator software at the moment. In
fact we are waiting until the software has been improved before selling any
more !! At the moment it just is not quite good enough !!

Yes, Eureka in Holland (that is the Netherlands) sells the Photolite-software
on CD. First load the photolite-software, then insert your PHOTO-CD.
Together with their Communicator-hardware you can even use your photo's at any
Amiga. Connection is serial.
