#missing objects
7 messages in this thread
I've been working with a 3ds file that has suddenly lost an object. The name
of the object still exists but it does not appear on the screen — nor does it
render. If I select it with the H key I can move it around but it still does
not appear. exiting and restarting 3ds does not help. Any suggestions?
Ian
Try hiding all objects and then unhinding all – you might have hidden a
selection of faces/elements instead of the object. In this case the object
definition is still "unhidded" but all of its pieces are hidden.

Tried that. No go.
Ian.
If Phil's suggestion doesn't work, my guess is that the file has become
corrupted somehow. If you were paging a lot and your HD controller is even a
little flakey, that can happen.

Do you think that swapping out to Ani Pro might have done it?
Ian.
It's possible, with certain memory managers and configurations, for the
swapping process to fail (if everything isn't just right for Phar Lap) and
possibly corrupt the file. I've seen it happen on one machine, once.

Ian,
I had the same problem a while back after shelling out to AniPro. I can't
however remember what I did to fix it!(g) I would suggest you keep trying
different things, ie. Select All, then Unhide Selected. BTW, does this
geometry show up in the keyframer? Good luck!
