I need a mesh!

Alex, depending on what you have available for paint programs, you may be able
to do this thru a combination of texture and opacity mapping onto a plain
sphere.
On an earth texture map, paint the continents white and the water black. Use
this as an opacity map on your sphere. The land should be visible while the
water is invisible.
By manipulating the colors of your texture map and the opacity sliders you
could come close to the effect you're looking for.
PMJI, but I think he'll need to enable two sided materials as well. It seems
to me I did this (the continents on a glass globe) once, using the opacity
maps, and the back sides of the continents won't render without two sided
stuff. Then again, I may be suffering from too little sleep…

Right-o. I forgot to mention that.
Hi David,
Thank you for that tip, however, I've found what I was looking for.
Thank you again.
