#Hamlab-author where?
9 messages in this thread
Hi to everyone on the thread:
I am looking for information about the address of the author of
the program 'HamlabPlus', a demo is (or was) here in the libraries.
A friend of mine would like to get the full working version, but
before we start writing letters to USA (from Germany), we want to
know if the address is still the same as in the docfiles. So here
is our plea:
Wanted for contact:
Ed Hanway, author of 'HamlabPlus' for the Amiga
last known address:
149 Arborwood Crescent
Rochester NY 14615 – 3849 USA
Please confirm your address, or send me your new one. My ID on
Compuserve is –> 100022,744 Harald W. Schulz
If anyone knows him, please give or send this message to him;
I don't have his e-mail address.
The gamma-correction in HamlabPlus is well done! If anyone is
interested too, you should DL HAMLAB.LHA; maybe it is still in the
graphic utilities here (I have here the UL-date 17-Sep-92!)
Unfortunately one can not lock colors to a definite value, but this
could have been changed in the last 1 1/2 years… 🙂
Thank you all…
Harry with AP (from Germany)

Juan
Thank You very much for Ed's address, I will try it this evening!

Juan,
I read your reply regarding the HAMLAB program. I'm looking for a program that
runs on a PC and converts TO HAM format (so that the converted picture can be
used on an Amiga). Do you know if that is possible with this program ???
Thanks for your help / matthijs wink NL
Dag Matthijs,
HAMLAB is an fully AmigaOS programm. It can't run on an PC but …
HAMLAB can import a lot of non-Amiga-picture formats (e.g.
GIF,TIF,SunRasterfiles,BMP, etc.) and convert them to HAM-format(s).
If you have CrossDos ( WB2.1 or higher) then you can read the IBM-floppies
without any problems.
Juan 😉 —->from NL too
Juan,
thanks for your reply — however I don't have an Amiga – so I'll keep looking
for a PC program !! matthijs
Matthijs:
Does the program you're looking for have to convert to HAM mode? There are
a couple of programs that I know of that will convert to most all other
Amiga IFF formats, including IFF24 (24bit). The programs will also let you
catalog your files, and they also handle many formats, including some
Atari ones as well. One program (the one I use the most is called
ThumbsPlus, and is available here on CIS in the Graphics Support forum.
The other program that I've used is Graphics Workshop, and it's available
in the same place. I'd have to say that both programs are really nice, GWS
does a couple of things better than Thumbs+, however Thumbs can so more
file util related things such as renaming files, moveing them, copying,
etc, and I like those features. The other big difference between them is
that GWS makes small 'thumbnail' files in the same directory as the
images, whereas ThumbsPlus uses a seperate thumbnail database.

Mike, thanks for your reply.
We are using a program on an old type Amiga to run a 'cable text' system (slide
show). Unfortunately, that program allows only HI-RES pictures with 16 colors,
which isn't enough to display a photo. That program however does support HAM
(640*512 or 320*512) and that's why I'm looking for a program that runs on a PC
and converts to HAM ….
matthijs
Matthis,
have you looked at Hijaack (spelling?)? Anyway, it does lots of odd
conversions.
