The problem is all 3ds/prj files are corrupted. I have since
contacted my dealer. He said it could be caused by a video card, but
I have tested the program on another machine with the same video card
and did not have a problem. My dealer did not think it was the disks
but I am sure I could get him to order me new ones if needed. I am
now starting to think that my harddrive is toast. The error seems to
occur only after the drive has been in use for awhile and maybe that
is what is corrupting my 3ds.exe. I tried to spinrite the drive and
it just locked up! I have never seen spinrite lock up before. I will
let you know if replacing the drive solves the promblem.

Sounds very much like a bad hard drive or controller. Have you run disk
surface tests (MSDOS, Norton, or PC Tools)?

Neil,
Find your model of drive and contact the manufacturer. Most of them,
primarily Maxtor, will have a low level formater on their tech support bbs. Do
this only as a last resort to save the drive!!!! I don't know how old your
drive is; but if it's over a year, I recommend a low level. IDE drives (you
never stated whether it's IDE or SCSI) tend to do this after extended use. You
can low level an IDE, probably contrary to what you've been told. If you cannot
find a low level formater for you drive FROM the manufacturer, try one from
someone else (this will rarely work, but sometimes it will). Low leveling and
IDE is not as difficult as it may seem, just make darn sure you let it finish
uninterupted. After that, reinstall and check all you .set files.
DO NOT FORGET TO BACK UP!!!!!!!
