Hi Brian, Were you able to discover uncover anything with regard to this matteing phenomena…? I need to know as this weekend will be a marathon render session, and if its not workable in VP then I've got to go with a composite, and split up the renderings… If you or Jonas could let me know the status on this by 5 or 6p, PST, it would be most helpful… Thanks, John

Hi John, I got the file you sent me, and I could easily duplicate the problem. There is an obvious difference between the two renderings. I don't have a solution right away, however. Your best bet for now is probably to do the composite work-around. I will be sending this up to our QA and Development teams Monday morning and see if they have any further insight. -Brian

Hi Brian, As an addendem to this compositing question, I'd suggest that the difference between these two images has something to do with additive transparency and how its applied in KF and VP. I used additive transparency exclusively on the beams and it has occurred to me that the difference between the two images is that the KF scene looks as though additive transparency is being applied but it doesn't appear that way with the VP composite, or at least it does not seem to be influenced in the same way. Hopefully this observation will provide the QA people with a place to start. My question would be what is the difference between how additive transparency is applied in KF vs VP; the answer to that should help identify a solution… Thanks again, John
