FYI, I am getting 3.6 MB/sec using a Seagate ST 3655A with the PAR.
It doesn't invalidate anything you said, just gives some feedback as
far as the PAR goes.

Cool! Sounds like we are getting a lot of good options. BTW, how much of the
disk (how many MB's) can is "rated" by the PAR for that performance?
I was told 2/3 (of any disk). I never got that far. It's also good to point out
that very rarely a scene takes the full bandwidth. Unless you have a terribly
busy scene. Most of the stuff I've been playing with resulted in files so small
(with maximum QFactor or greater quality) I haven't reached the drive limits
(by a long shot). That, however, changes very quickly when you record live
video. Specially a shot from a camera attached to the helmet of a guy running
cross country with a BMW Paris-Dakar.
Glad you're back. You can correct all the erroneous stuff floating about the
forum re the PAR and what it will and won't do. BTW I ordered mine last week
and I guess I'll order the HD, a Micropolis 2210A tomorrow. I also ordered the
TBC4 and remote, for full frame grabbing. Do you have the TBC4 and if so how
does the frame grabbing work for you?

I captured the LucasFilm THX demo disk on the TBC4 to the PAR. Almost five
minutes of action, looks beautiful! Alan Iglesias and I A/B'd it and were
absolutely amazed!

It's refreshing to get response from those who actually have hands on
experience with this stuff.
I'm still without specific information on the resolution problem but maybe
after tomorrow's meeting I'll get some answers. Sunday's session was a waste
of time for technical info. I have a feeling that someone in their
organization has commited software specs they can't deliver. The claim was
640x480x24 bit at 15 frames per second from a CD-ROM. I don't think it's
possible. I'm getting a little impatient and so are the investors on this
project. The technical guy keeps showing up with missing information.
Really! My eyeballs are still hurting from trying to find some sign of
lossiness in the frame/field play back of the grabs<g>…The dang thing
certainly seems to work well…

All I've done with the TBC is grabbing color bars or random noise (aside from
some shots of a couple of CG Laser Disks). The stuff I wrote has nothing to do
with the TBC. All I needed was a way to create huge files in order to dissect
them. I really haven't had much time to do "normal" work. Greg, on the other
hand, has used his TBC it a lot more than me.
The one thing I did was to record some live video and run the scene through
some of my IPAS'es. Just get one frame at a time, run the process and save it
back. It's pretty cool. I can't wait to see the Xaos stuff.
I recently read a message here that the PAR can't do output at 30 frames per
second without tearing. That only the MAX has this capability. I'm sure if
the picture was tearing then you would still be in development, right? Thanks
for the facts.

Don't know where you saw it, but the PAR has NO TEARING whatsoever at 60 fields
per second at 24 bit at 752×480 resolution! (Did I make that clear enough?
<g>)
