What about the 3DS-specific party? i was talking to Mark Meier abou there being one last year, but I didn't own 3ds back then. I now do, and have received no word on a 3DS party. Any info?

If you are a registered 3DS user, Jerome, you will be receiving invitations for this year's Adesk 3DS/Siggraph party sometime in July. -Alan

>>If you are a registered 3DS user, Jerome, you will be receiving invitations for this year's Adesk 3DS/Siggraph party sometime in July. I am… been looking for it. I was just making sure they hadn't already been sent and I was looked over. I remember the second party was on Weds., last year (as oppsed to the ASOFT forum). What day is it that year?

The ASOFT party is Sunday night, and the Adesk party is Tuesday night. -Alan

>>The ASOFT party is Sunday night, and the Adesk party is Tuesday night. Good…. now I know what days to schedule my electronic theatre viewing around. Thanx!

You definitely don't want to miss the Electronic Theater this year. Why? Because we've got THREE 3D Studio pieces in it. 1) The opening animation… a retrospective look back at the past 20 years of Electronic Theaters. This is about 3 minutes long, and it's going to be output directly to 70mm film and will be projected at the Shriner auditorium on a HUGE screen (about 80' wide). 2) Johnny Mnemonic internet highlights. This is (almost) all of the 3DS work from JM (with no other work, because it's just the work done by Sony Pictures Imageworks for the film. This is a 3 minute piece and it will be projected off of 35mm film. 3) IUCD: This is a 4 minute art piece done by Leslie Baker (an animator at Rhythm & Hues) with original music. As you probably know, 4 minutes is a looong piece to be accepted by the ET, so this is a real coup. It's going to be projected on video. So, we've got about 10 minutes of 3DS work in the ET, which is unbelievably exciting (since it's a first for any PC-based 3D app to have so much work in the show). I'll probably have to go both Wednesday _and_ Thursday, just to drink it all in. (And as a first this year, the ET is being opened up to the general public at the Shriner auditorium for a 4th show on Friday night… Still at $20/ticket though.) – G

Which Friday? Before or after the Siggraph show? Or, is it being run during the show for Siggraph attendees? More details please. Don Landis

The general public ET event is the Friday after the show (the day after the show ends). – G

Looks like I'll miss it then. I should be back in J'ville on Friday.

Wow – a LOT of good stuff there. I look forward to seeing THAT. Where will most of this be available for purchase? Will it be on the SIGGRAPH animation reel or multimedia CD?
