As usual, we're going to be giving a copy of our monster Siggraph reel away to everyone who comes to our party on Tuesday night at the Biltmore. (invites will be sent out in mid-July to all registered 3DSers) I just finished cutting this year's reel last night, and I'm still in shock. It's as good as any animation festival I've ever seen (including any of the past Electronic Theaters at Siggraph). There's a total of about 50 MINUTES of animation on the reel. It starts with a 12-minute montage to choreographed music (in a different format than we've done in the past) and then moves on to almost 40 minutes of complete pieces, including a 5 minute motion ride through the pyramids of ancient egypt (yup, a real motion ride), a french Fantasia, a 4.5 minute birth/rebirth psychedellic experience from Hong Kong, highlights from Johnny Mnemonic, etc etc etc… Almost none of the work is 'commercial'… almost all of it is art-house quality. I'm quivering all over with anticipation to show it to everyone Tuesday night at our party! (That's when we'll show the full tape… In our booth we're going to show the 12 minute montage and an 18-minute version with the most eye-popping pieces from the full 40-minute reel.) In my wildest dreams, I never ever would've imagined that we'd be able to come up with a reel like this. Nothing like it has ever been seen in the world of 3D animation programs. (Someone pinch me quick and wake me up?) And, for any of the CIS folks who can't make it to Siggraph, I'm going to make the same offer as last year… If you send in a SASE with $3.00 in postage on it, you'll get your own copy of the reel, duped directly from the digital master. (This year, however, you'll be sending your SASE's to a kindly soul who'll be handling this for me, since I'm so mind-numbingly busy with the NT project.) Whew… – G

<<our party on Tuesday night at the Biltmore. (invites will be sent out in mid-July to all registered 3DSers)>> Any chance that a few invites will make there way to Paris, France? I'll be making it to SIGGRAPH and wouldn't want to miss it. Thanks. DaviD "snail mail across the pond" GouID

If you don't get an invite in the mail, I'll personally make sure that you get one at the booth on Tuesday. – G

Hmm…. you sure know how to whet one's appetite for a reel, don't you? I certainly look forward to the party, and will greatly treasure a copy of this reel, even if it's half as good as you say 🙂

G – Check is made out for the Siggraph reel but what is the address for the SASE, what size envelope and how much postage? Or is the $3.00 for the postage? Looking forward to seeing this! Anne

Since the soundtrack won't be finished until the day before we leave for Siggraph, the answer is nope. – G
