#Sony update?

Just curious as to whether the new Sony drives are becoming readily available
and if any problems have been encountered? Also saw an ad recently for a
Mirror CD-R and it said it was a Sony mechanism. Wonder if this is the new one?

So far my testing on the new Sony 920 has produced excellent results. My
testing includes writing the CD-R to capacity and then getting all 9 error
rates and analog signals off the discs as the analyzer reads the pits. It's a
pretty slick unit.
I will second your opinion on the new Sony… Like it. I still like the
Philips and its siblings better because of the big cache but so far it seems to
be a good recorder. The nice thing is that it is so cheap…

Have to say that I haven't used the Sony — Scott Bracken is the person who
posted that message. We've straightened out the ID names now, but for a day or
so the account still had my name on it from ages ago, and he didn't realize it.
