#Storage Help Needed

I need help with a special project that entails storage of large amounts of financial and personnel records from paper to "something." CD-ROM seems an easy way to store this data via a scanner but need some input from soemone who's done it to offer some advise…….thx…..

Randy, You should wander over to the Folio forum and ask some of the people there who are working with LegalVIEWS by JuriSoft and Watermark's utility that embeds a thumbnail sketch of scanned documents into the fulltext indexed infobases. David, I think this application calls for more than simple file storage — one would also like to be able to find the data and display it someday, presumably. A search & retrieval product like Folio VIEWS (or many of the other products available) is indicated here. Kathy The One-Off CD Shops

The great thing about Spira, is that you should use both. Pick your favorite index/retrieval product to index the data and then save to CD-R disc right from the application or use File Manager without ever running a separate premastering application. David

David, Your suggestion might work for some programs, but many S&R products have very picky requirements for storing their applications to CDROM if you plan to run from the disc. Spira may work well as a premastering tool if the developer follows the right steps for publishing, but please don't gloss over the technicalities of sophisticated programs such as search & retrieval.
