I have a CDU31A Sony CD_Rom Drive. I have sent it back to SONY once because the CD Door was slow at opening. However, they checked it out and made no change. I fixed that problem by installing it differently. My problem is that the drive does not seem to be reliable. It works well for an half hour or so (sometimes) and then the Commerce Clearing House programing tells me that the drive is not recognized, or alternatively there is a failure of the drive. Does SONY have any represenative etc. on this forum? or another forum? Thanks,

Sony doesn't have any official or unofficial presence hereabouts, I'm afraid. They do have their own BBS at 408-955-5107 for whatever solace that might bring. Your drive is generally very dependable; and, althought it certainly is possible that it's suffering from an intermittent problem, I'd suggest examining your base system for things that might be upsetting the CDROM. That's by far the most common problem. For some tips on doing that, download file Laser3.txt frm the CDROM Forum (GO CDFORUM). Good luck!
