#NEC/Plextor 6X drive
4 messages in this thread
Have there been any tests about the speed of the new 6X drives? I want a 6X
external, preferably Plextor up until now. I have called Plextor for over a
month and they say that the external drive will be out "Any day now." I am
tired of waiting.
I see that NEC has a 6X available now. Is it as well built and durable, and is
the speed as good as Plextor? Is the 6X worth the extra money and time spent
waiting? I have children and intend to use the encyclopedia for their school,
and probably a game or two.
Thanks in advance for any help, or any pointers as to where to go for
tests/comparisons.
The Plextor external is available NOW. We have them at my office in Santa
Clara CA. Please, try again or call me direct. Felix Nemirovsky.
Plextor.
The external drives are finally in? Glad to hear it.
I have been calling your sales line faithfully for over a month now. I call,
ask them when the external is due to ship, and the standard answer is, "a week
or two." I was really getting fed up. If it was going to by July, they should
have said so in May.
Plextor is right at the top of the reviews as the fastest; sometimes not the
fastest, but pretty close to the top. But the quality and construction seem to
be about as good as it gets, although expensive. From what I can tell, they
are worth the wait.
Do you have an extension to ask for, or do I ask for you by name? And if we
should take this to e-mail, please do so, but as for a purchase, should I buy
direct or from a vendor? And if a vendor, can you tell me which ones may have
the drive by now? I am not a big fan of back-order, so I may have to wait a
while.
Thanks for your help.
Rocky.
I really suggest calling because our sales can look up a store or something in
your area while you are on the phone. If they give you any trouble just ask to
talk to me. FN.
