Hi, How can I develop opacity maps that aren't transparent? I have tried a lot of things, but always the zone I want not to be transparents are a few transparents? Thanks Igor

Try using a map in the MASK box next to the opacity MAP box. The mask you use will make the opacity map not apply to the areas that are white, and only apply to the black areas. Re-do the Materials exercise in the Tutorial guide, or try the examples in the reference manual for opacities and it should become fairly obvious. Best of luck Peter

Once you've assigned an Opacity map the entire material is 100% transparent with the Opacity map telling it where it is opaque. So, in order to have an opaque area on the material the map must be pure white – if it's any less than white it will be that much transparent. Is your Opacity map White? If so, is your strength slider at 100? If so is your transparency slider greater than 0? If the latter is true than it is affecting the material as well. An opacity map replaces the transparency slider but works in conjunction with the falloff slider. Since an opacity mask only masks the opaque section it can never make the material more opaque – only more transparent. – Phil
