Hi! Is there a routine for drawing turf in 3ds4? I found no bitmap under either grass or turf. I wonder what everyone else does to draw gof course or tennis court. For the job I am doing, I need actually texture for astro-turf. So, it can not be too natural. ( I guess that's easier.) I've been kind of playing with bumping with different maps but not so good yet. Any tips appreciated. ( I am still a beginner in 3DS. I suppose this is a real rudimentary quesiton, but I can't yet work it out.) Luka Kito 73664,1131

<<I found no bitmap under either grass or turf.>> There is a grass bitmap on the World Creating Toolkit CD, it's called GGFOL.TGA in the architectural directory of the maps directory. DaviD "Carving a few divots in GGFOL.TGA with my 9 iron" GouID

Thanks a lot for the info. From some reason, my mind was blocked and didn't look for it within that CD. I will certainly look for it. Thanks again. Luka Kito 73664,1131

Luka, Grass and organic textures are everywhere. We kind of start you out by providing a few on the World Creating Toolkit as David mentioned, but you might also want to check the back of trade magazines like Computer Graphics World or Morph's Outpost for vendors provding a more extensive library(usually on CD-ROM, also). Autodesk also has a CD-ROM of textures called Texture Universe. Ask your dealer to see what textures are on there. Jh P.S.- As always, you can search around here on ASOFT for these types on things too!

Thanks a lot for the info. I certainly will ask my dealer for the Texture Universe. Ithought it was strange not to find any. (I also certainly forgot to see the CD.) Thanks again. Luka Kito 73664,1131

Luka, << I need actually texture for astro-turf. >> Have you tried using a scanned image of some astro-turf as the bump and texture map? Mark

Mark, <<Have you tried using a scanned image of some astro-turf as the bump and texture map?>> That sounds like a really good idea. I am going to try that for my next project. I just submitted the project. Thanks a lot for the tip. Luka Kito 73664,1131
