Where can I get some info on Bernoulli and Syquest drives? Which would be
better to use in a DOS Platform?

Syquest Co. is 800-536-7936, I think they are in Florida, kinda near
you. The best thing is to see what your printers and clients have,
since the portability is the point …its nice to know what you are
portaring to…before you buy.
I have both. The bernoulli is an old 44 M system and the SyQuest is a
new 105 M system. I can tell you that the SyQuest is really nice. It
came with a SCSI/Parallel cable that works much better than the
Bernoulli system.
Also, Bernoulli disks (44 M) are $100. The SyQuest disks (105 M) are
much cheaper! The SyQuest system cost me $699.

Just to let you know, Bernoulli just recently droped their
drive and media prices. I don't know what the 44's are going for, but
the new 150 meg cartridges average $99 and the drive which will read
all sizes can be had for less than $500. They had a super deal going
that I think ended at the start of the year, which was 5 150 carts
for $99 each, and they would throw in the drive for nothing! I was
looking into syquests and bernoulli's for a while, but finally ended
up getting another large fixed drive instead.
There are more Bernoulli's in DOS houses … Syquests in MAC's … but
that changing. For the purposes of exchaning TGA's for recording and
such, you will probably have more luck with the Bernoulli. The best
thing to do, is call up the people with which you will transfer
information with and see what they accept.
If you are going to purchase one of the systems for another reason ..
other than transfer .. like backup and such … there are better
solutions for that.
