#3ds5 upgrade bundle?

Will their be an upgrade to Release 5 that is bundled with NT? And any idea on
what the price would be?

There will be a migration path for those who are using 3D Studio. You should
no that it will not be called release 5 and we will be announcing the name at
Siggraph.
At this time we do not have the migraiton prices. As a registered user you
will receive a flyer with the pricing to migrate once we start shipping the
product. You will be able to migrate through your Authorized Autodesk
Multimedia Dealer.

I'm curious to know the reasoning behind this decision. FWIW, early versions
OS/2 lost a great deal of market share just because it wasn't called DOS 6.
This is not to imply that 3D graphikers would overlook any decendant of the 3DS
lineage.

Dennis didn't say that it wasn't going to be called 3D Studio. He just said
that the release number wasn't going to be what ya'll expect.
In fact, I doubt that ANYTHING that we show at Siggraph will be what you
_expect_.
Best to just wait another 3 weeks and 6 days…

Next year I swear to God I'll have a submission for the Siggraph tape.
John,
Can't wait to see what your doing with 3DS. Feel free to send us some samples
when your ready. No need to wait until the next Siggraph were always
interested in checking out what our customers are up to.

Well, I do have a few things up here on CIS (AMMEDIA and ASHOWCASE), mostly
still pics. and one or two flics. Some have gotten really good reviews from
downloaders :^). A search on my ID should turn them all up (I'd recommend
TRBLDR.JPG in ASHOWCASE as the best single image to look at). What I meant was
a real animation good enough to make the tape; the still images are fine in and
of themselves, but I just haven't been able to find the time to do an animation
I think is good enough for submissionfo rthe Siggraph reel.
