#MeshPaint Lite and Pro
25 messages in this thread
Hello….
We just began shipping MeshPaint 3D Pro, and the new MeshPaint 3D Lite. The Pro
version has all of the features of version 1.0, plus some new ones, and the
Lite version is a reduced feature version.
If you have any questions, leave me some e-mail.
Brent
Questions regarding Meshpaint Pro.
1. What are the new features?
2. Is there an upgrade avaliable from standard Meshpaint?
Thanks.
John-
The new features include an unlimited map size starting from 2×2. The other
new feature is called "Polymap". This automatically generates a map with
outlines for every polygon! Since you already have v 1.0, the upgrade price
for v 1.1 is $25.00. The only information we need from you is your serial
number and the address you want your new version sent to.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Thanks.

Sorry, but I'm not getting it. Could you explain this a bit more? And what are
the potential applications of this feature?

Ernie,
The Polymap feature has many uses, but is best described as a dress pattern for
the object's texture. Because we have discovered that most MeshPaint users will
use a combination of MeshPaint and a 2D paint package like Photoshop, we
decided to give the user a "blueprint" of the texture map.
The procedure can be applied to all of the polygons in the object, or any that
are selected in the 3D Editor. This has some extra values for special effects,
as Polymap uses the current brush and color for the outlines.
I will post some samples very soon.

Huh?
I'm looking forward to the demo images. Hopefully I'll figger out what you're
talking about from them. Anyways, I'll no doubt be ordering the upgrade RSN.

Ernie,
I just uploaded a sample image in the Positron forum. Type Go Positron. I will
upload some more samples soon.

Ah… I did (well… about 6 hours ago… just before I went to the
microbrewry <bg>) but Positron isn't listed in the news file or the forum
listings yet. The GO word worked, but… I'll try again.

Ernie,
Your making me wish I had a nice cold Honey Ale right now! Especially with
this heat wave!

That's what I'm _always_ thinking ;> I'll be there again tonite after the NC
3DS UG meeting! Will you be?
Tonite's meeting will be "the Collision Detection Shoot-Out" twixt Dynamic
Motion Module and Keyscript.

You must live _too_ far from the beach, dude. Here in O'side it's a way-nice
81% at 2:00pm. Ahhh…

Could you be so kind as to post your findings (and mortality rate) here when
you folks finish?
Since these routines have been released so close to each other my brain has
practically split in two trying to figure out which one would meet my needs
better!
I also invite those responsible parties (Digimation DMM, Schrieber's Key
Factory, and a Keyscripter -unless I'm confusing this with Key Factory-) to
post their ammunition here so those of us who are still confused can attempt to
make a decision.
Thanks in advance!!

I really do have to make it back there soon. I would have liked to see the
shootout. Who won?

"The other new feature…"? Does this mean that 1.1 only has 2 new
features? If not, could a list be uploaded containing descriptions of the
enhancments?
Thanks.
David,
BLUR
David,
The MeshPaint Pro has just the two new features, along with a few bug fixes.
The price remains the same ($499.95), while MeshPaint Lite retails for $250. It
is missing the following features:
Image brushes
Stamper Tool
No fade or transition paint modes
Limited to 700×700 resolution
No Polymap
The Polymap feature is quite useful. I'll upload a sample or two today if I
have time.
Brent
Brent,
Meshpaint sounds great. Polymap sounds very useful.
I was just back at Omaha late last month, I should've looked you up. 🙁
JNJ
Sorry to have missed you. Next time, make a point of coming by.

Will do.

Brent:
I wanted to say thanks again for your great demonstrations of Meshpaint 3D and
DMM at our user's group meeting. Everyone was very impressed, and really
enjoyed the meeting. Thanks also to JJ for coming out. And congratulations on
being listed as a "hot ipas" by CGW (I *think* it was CGW… where is that
magazine… <G>)
Jim
Jim,
We had a ball. We will have some new things to show real soon and would love to
demo them to your group.

Great, we'd love to have you anytime. Are you going to be showing off your
IPAS's at Siggraph this year? What magazines have you recently written articles
for? Are you going to pursue the Lightwave Plug-In market, or have you decided
yet?
Jim
Thanks for the info. I've gathered a wishlist for useful meshpaint
features while using the program over the past few weeks. I don't have time to
upload them now, (they're written on several 'post-it' notes) but I'll try to
get that to you soon. Hopefully some of the suggestions can be incorperated
into a future version.
David,
BLUR
Brent:
Glad that my suggestion about the "polymaps" was worth for an upgrade. Maybe I
should ask a discount on it 🙂 <g>.
Vanny
Hi Brent,
What is the price of Meshpaint 3D Pro?
Do you have distributors in the UK or would I contact you
direct to purchase MP?
Thanks,
