#IK assisting scripts!

Hi everyone, The following files struck an emotional chord in me. << ANCHOR is a 3D Studio Keyscript that handles anchoring feet during a walk cycle. Designed to operate on IK follow objects. WALKER is 3D Studio Keyscript that allows you to design walk cycles for IK follow objects. Describe a walk with Bounce, Jump and Momentum parameters. Parameters can then be scaled to fit a set of follow objects for other characters. >> Great utilities for those of us that love IK. We need more of them. For the 90+ downloaders of these recent uploads by Conrad, I'd love to see some IK animations uploaded to the library :-). I was looking forward to seeing a multitude of IK Siggraph reel entries this year using IK dramatically but saw only several :-(. I really think that IK is under utilized by our forum community. With the challenges we face using IK and creating positional/scaling relationships between interesting bone hierarchies for deformation AXP's and trying to animate 1000's of metaball-type objects for realistic and controlled results, I think those of us here in the scripting section looking for additional ways to describe these relationships are currently in some interesting times. ;-). After seeing these two uploads, I wondered what IK appdata chunk access would do for IK assisting scripts?

Glad you like it! Actually, there's a lot to be desired in it. I'd be interested in any suggestions you might have. It won't work for every situation, but it's come in handy in several situations for me already. I'm not sure how much bigger I want it to get, though. I'm almost getting into IPAS territory with some of this…

Conrad, I am going to take the WALKER script it home this weekend and run it through it paces and build some sample animations hopefully. Maybe I will have some sample animation I can upload and gewnerate some more ideas. Peter W.

Conrad, IThe only suggestion that I came up with is maybe to add foot roll so that the follow object rolls/rotates into and out of an anchor position and also maybe some way to implement turning. Also I had problems with bouncing the main body. The feet were working fine but I was not getting any bounce(up and down motion). Any suggestions. Peter W.

Yeah, I'd like to add the roll, but before I add features I really need to trim some of the code. As far as the bounce, I'm not sure without seeing your file. There are a few areas that, depending on the length of anchors or length of space between anchors, I have set up not to trigger. Some of these things were put in for my use, and may be a little confusing to everyone else. The bounce should be working in the demo WLK files I included. What are you doing differently?
