#Ipas Help
5 messages in this thread
Gary,
I am in need of a little assistance. I need to create an Ipas material
that changes its properties as it gets closer to the camera. i.e. a cube that
is red in the foreground and blue in the backgroud. Any directional help would
be appreciated.

You could use vary.sxp and animate the diffuse color as the object moves around
in the scene.

You could also write a script if you have release 4 that checks the object's
distance and changes it's color appropriately. You'll need to get the other
script extensions from Schreiber Intrustments, though(and beef up on you BASIC
programming skills).

Thats a good Idea but the color could be different at the front of the object
and different at the back depending on distance. As far as I can tell I can
only find the object pivot point, and can not have a gradient over 1 surface.

Kevin:
I am not certain I understand the exact effect you are after but perhaps a
projector spotlight with a bitmap of the color gradient would give you what you
are looking for. As the object changed position it would change color according
to the design of your gradient. You could easily create the gradient by
setting up a background and rendering it to a .tga or .tif.
