Sorry, Bill. You are WRONG!
You CAN HAVE animated meshes besides Magnifying Glass even in this
Demo version.
Here are simple instructions:
1. Load Lensdemo.prj – Sample Project in the KeyFramer.
Add your meshes to it and animate them and/or Lens object.
2. Hide Lens object in KeyFramer and render the rest of the scene
to the disk (let's say lensdemo.flc) from the Camera01 view.
3. Unhide Lens object and go to material Editor.
For LENS REFRACT material choose lensdemo.flc as a texture.
Put updated LENS REFRACT material back to the scene…
4. You are done.
Just render it (from the same Camera01 view)!
Happy renderings,

I have seen your impressive flc and lens. How about very much more complicated
objects like a glass of water or a glass statue? Or would these require
raytracing?
Thanks
Ed
Hi, Edward!

Thanks for compliment.
Glass Statue is PIECE of CAKE for Refraction Mapping,
it was actually designed for renderings of Waterly Venera sculpture.
I just was lazy and did not hardwired Venera mesh into Demo version, I put
Magnifying Glass instead.
(i had options of Venera, walking bird, spiral and Lense,
I picked Lense as a sinonym for refraction)
But there is NO principal difference among the two.
It will render statue perfectly and in addition you can animate it
and you can even animate viewers behind the statue and they
will be refracted as well…
Glass of water is Really more complicated, you're right, but NOT impossible:
we are talking about two refracting objects, one inside another.
For current version of Refraction Mapping it is actually
even 3 refracting objects: further (from the camera) half of the glass, water,
and then
closer half of the glass.
RefrMap will still beat any raytrace hands down in speed
(plus it supports animation and is true plug-in),
but it may be tedious to fiddle with 3 consequtive renderings,
assigning them as textures.
RefrMap 1.1 will do that kind of task in one automatic run,
but then you have to wait till October (or November).
Glad you liked it,
