#Flic to .AVI or Qtime
8 messages in this thread
Hi Dana,
I just saw this message and seems to be something I am looking for. Is Premier
capable of converting FLI movies into MOV or AVI?
I appriciate it if you e-mail your response to me.
Regards,
Jim V.
PMJI>>Jim,
Premier will do the job, but if you have the DPS PAR or PVR system, you will
want to use Razor Pro. The RP software uses the PAR much more efficiently than
Premier, and with NT comming into view the new SPEED RAZOR MACH III is native
NT code and is running 3-4 times as fast as the Windows 3.1 Razor Pro.

Yes, it sounds like a good package, from everythings I've heard, but do you
think it's worth the cost of Speed Razor? I use Razor Pro, and enjoy it, but
at an UPGRADE sticker of $700, I can't yet justify that large an expense. The
Win 3.1 Razor is a good package at heart, but even it needs a few more effects
to make full value of its $900 price. Will Speed Razor really have enough
improvements to be worth $1600? That's more than half 3DS itself.

Jerome, I can assure you that the NT version of SRMach III will be the high
end NLE for awhile, in:sync has developed a very powerful engine that is going
to be hard to reproduce. There will be new features including effects, my
suggestion is to come to there SIGGRAPH booth and check it out, and there
should be a complete feature list by then. Is it worth the price, yes, I guess
it just depends how many edits you are doing and how well you want them done.

I intend to. I look forward to seeing it, actually. I just wish they weren't
charging an arm and a leg for UPGRADES for those who already have it. I mean –
it's over 30% more than the price of upgrading 3DS or AutoCAD.
Mike, One thing about Razor Pro though is it's inability to generate Quick Time
movies. This in itself is worth getting Premiere to some people. I've got the
Qtime IXP and it works great but being able to deal with it all from within
windows is much nicer. I've got RP and wish it had QT support. I've called
In:Sync on this and they said so far they have no plans to add it. How about
Speed Razor? Will it do QT?
DM
Dave,
RP doesn't do Quick Time Movies so I use a small program called TMOOV.exe
(CANYON Movie Toolkit ver 1.20, by CANYON Software) that converts Quick Time to
AVI and AVI to Quick Time. As far as Speed Razor check out in:sync's SIGGRAPH
booth.

dear jim,
to convert avi<>mov we use ABODEE PREMIERE 1.1
better to have a big supertool – than some hundreds minitools.
if you get a problem (bug) with a "half"tool – you're allways the looser…
things like PREMIERE works hard and fine for you in each (picture)direction.
like NURBS, BONES PRO, YPAS 1-7.
short: don't fill your harddisc with any "half"ware up…
