Help! Rendering software

Hi! I'm a mexican systems engineer, needing an advice, a very good one, about
some rendering software. In my company, which works on civil engineering, we
need to make some presentations about some new construction system, and we'd
like to make them with full renderings of buildings without, you know, the
walls, leaving only the steel columns and other structural elements on the
picture. We already use AutoCAD release 12 for drawing, but it turns to be too
difficult to learn and too slow to render in the case of 3D drawings. I've
heard that 3DStudio is a very powerful tool for doing that, but is it fast? The
difficulty of use wouldn't be such a problem for us, but it would be the speed
and size of the software. Our more powerful machine is a 486DX2-66 MHz, 16 MB
RAM. I'd really appreciate anyone that could give me some advice. We're facing
the fact that we might find that the appropriate software is not from AutoDesk.
What do you think?

I have found 3D Studio very intuitive to use and thus very fast for creating 3D
computer models. If you are referring to render times, I don't believe you'll
a faster production renderer on ANY platform.

I've been doing some research after you wrote me and I've found that 3D Studio
is really over my needs. We only need a schematic drawing, rendered and all, of
a very simple steel structure, and we need to be able to look at it at
different points of view, maybe even make a walk-through. But the main
caracteristic this program must have is the easyness and speed ond producing
the drawings.
Thanks for your comment. I'd really like to have some excuse to buy and use
3DStudio. Seems great.
