Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think that 600,000 figure was given out several
months ago. No new figure has been given lately, so people just keep
quoting the old one. I know that the 600,000 was quoted months ago. I
wish I knew the reference, but somewhere I heard about 750,000 were out by
June 1.
The 600,000 figure came from the collective mouths of CBM at Comdex in
Atlanta. You can bet your boots they fudged as much as possible, and if
they had expected 7650000 by June they would have SAID so. Loudly.
I DO think there are more'n 600,000 Amigas on the planet. I also think the
200,000 USA ones is a heavy underestimation. There HAVE to be more than
that to support all the software/hardware third party vendors. There are
enough ray tracing packages to keep 350,000 USA machines REAL busy.
Also, I'm prepared to make a bold prediction: By the end of this year,
there will be more than 1 MILLION Amigas in people's hands.
