Patrick,
Okay, in MY opinion, a spaceship is not a "beautifully rendered image", but
then I am "just a girl" and I have my prejudices. When I get the chance I'm
gonna ray trace some nudes or something, heh heh. (Hope that wasn't too heavy
for the forum)

Ok, now its my turn: what I am doing is just playing around. I have a few
Science Fictional starships lying around, and I wanted to see how easy it was
to use Sculpt-3D to render objects from a set of drawings. When we get
Animate-3D, I will probably do something with a docking sequence. My general
feeling is that Sculpt is more than adequate for the task; although a few more
features would be nice (a grid and a gridsnap option, a better group option to
"connect" physically unconnected items into one object).
Sounds like you need Sculpt Animate. It has hierarchical grouping. Sculpt
Animate 4D, yet to ship, has gridsnap. Have you built many 3D objects?
