#MM Programmer Job

Hi. I am a former C= Software Engineer, who has now gone independent. I know
AmigaVision well, as I reviewed its source code and tested it at C=. Besides
my extensive Amiga knowledge (4 years at C=), C experience (13 years),
multimedia expert (was my primary involvement at C=), I would be interested to
do this on a consultant basis. The only problem now is that I am currently
involved in a 6-month contract FT, so I will only be able to devote part of my
time to it.
Still, I may be of use to you.

Welcome Fred! Fortunately for us, or unfortunately for you (depending how
you look at it), it's nice to have the expertise of former C= engineer's
here on CI$. I just wished CBM had a lot more employed software developers
than they do now <g>.

Just a FYI … CBM is has hired at least one new software person recently
and is looking to hire at least a couple more. They do have a
documentation group again (albeit, small … but that's better than none).

You mean CISCO (Commodore International Services Corporation), not CBM.
They've always had a (user) documentation group. Though CATS had lost
it's (programmer) documentation people, and some are now back.

Well, whoever those people in West Chester work for that do stuff like autodocs
<grin>.
Actually, I'm planning to do a Windows version of AutoDocs at some point. I
should just do a straight port of my AutoDocs extractor from the Amiga, but I
took advantage that you can address way more than 640K on the Amiga. Think I'll
port it directly to NT (or win32) and not bother with the silly segmentation
issues. What really galls me is that I'll have to spit out RTF format and then
I'll have to run the Help compiler on it. I'd rather spit out Help format
directly, but MushySoft hasen't seen fit to publish the format (though I
understand it's been reversed-engineered). I still put all of my documentation
in that format on my Windows projects. It would be sooo nice to extract them to
Help format.
All I need is a weekend free of kids! Not a chance! 🙂
I hope you do write that windows version. If autopilot serves the same purpose
as this bug-ridden version of WinCIM I'm using then I'll buy it.

I'm in my own self-created hell. Windows, PCs, and mainframes, too! (ACK!) I
never knew what a true user-hostile interface was before I met the IBM 3270 (or
is it 3720? 666? 🙂
Don't forget the A**nineSystem/400.
You want to kill a DOS PC, run PC Support/400. Onle network software I
know that will cause the "MEM" command to hang _ON_IBM_PS/2s_ONLY_!
It's bad when even IBM software hates IBM PS/2's

MEM doesn't hang our PS/2s… Though it definitely isn't that stable.
(The OS/2 version seems pretty stable though.)

Well, when the place I did temp work load PC Support/400, and Novell
Netware on the same PS/2, and then threw Windows into the resulting mess,
er, mix, all kinds of things happened.

Ugh… (I support a lot of machines just like that, and OS/2 machines
with Novel token ring stuff AND and ethernet net.)
A lot of the problems we've been having are the token ring drivers, not
the PC Support stuff. (And genereal Windows blah.)

Yep, I had heard that CBM was looking for some some programmers,
especially those with good 'graphics' knowledge. Hmmmm….you don't
suppose CBM is finally working on RTG <g>. Good to hear they have a few
people for documentation again. Maybe we might see 3.1 RKM's after all.
