I'm not at all certain why you have palette problems. Are you sure it's not a
mode problem instead? With HAM mode, a bad palette usually doesn't affect the
entire image, just the left edges. If the WHOLE picture looks like its got a
wrong palette, then either SaveIFF or your display program isn't figuring out
that you're in HAM mode…

It's probably SAVEIFF's doing. It will occasionally choke on GIF pictures,
either screwing up the palette, or producing a guru-making picture.
Tell the man that PixMate used in conjuction with NextScreen (NXTSCR.ARC,
tools, 'Tech) will work 100% if he shuffles the screens around until it grabs
the right one. Also, don't use SHOW or SUPERVIEW on them, as if SAVEIFF did
screwup badly, he's in for a drive honking FIREWORKS_DISPLAY guru. Use Dpaint
II or Pixmate, and re-save to be safe.

Sounds like SaveIFF is pretty flakey… Anyone know of a better PD screen
grabber?

I believe SaveIFF chokes on 'oversized' GIF graphics, where the bitmap is a
wee bit larger or smaller than standard. I guess it expects things to be
'normal' and bollixes the end of the file, or mislocates the color map.
Those display utilities that handle odd-sized graphics will handle it, but
USHOW and the like will choke. The strange thing is, it's not 100%, and it
will grab difficult graphics occasionally.
I can say, though, that some of my more interesting gurus occurred while
using it, while attempting to show the captured graphic. 8)
