Scaling Objects
9 messages in this thread
Since the release of our Turbo Silver 3.0 Module Pack, we've had one or two
reports of objects "turning into flat lines" when the user selects an
object made by the InterChange Turbo Silver 3.0 Module, and then Scales the
object in the Turbo Silver Transformation requester. The problem is not in
the object, but in the way you scale the object. Be sure to click on the
"Local" button below the three Scale values. If this box is not selected,
then the object will turn into a flat line. If the box IS selected, the
object will be scaled as set in the values above. – John Foust, Syndesis

Is the problem that there is only an X axis? I have had the same problem
when rotating an object. I have found that using the Silver 2 module to
import and the 3 module to export gets around the problem.
What do you mean, "that there is only an X axis"? How could I identify
this? I've always thought our objects have the required 3 axis lines don't
they?
I've also experienced the `shrinking object phenom'… tried your solution
of a `local` vs. 'global' world, and got it to work. I think what he means
is that all you can SEE is the x axis… the others are too too small.
correct? –jp–
You're right…you can't see the other axises…but I tried resizing them
and they still did not appear…although, come to think of it, I did not
change to Local. However, since they are identified as full-size axises,
they should be visible right from the start.
Don, you are correct, you SHOULD be able to see them. Have you tried
Interchange's scaling feature for the actual conversion of an object? I
haven't, but think it might be a work-around. As I recall, you merely set
the MIN and MAX dimensions that an object should be converted TO, and
Interchange will automatically scale the object as it converts. Will have
to give it a try.
Good luck. BTW, I rendered my first FULL SCALE anim in Haitek stero vision
(33DD) over the last two days. Boy I am IMPRESSED. Stereo may be a
gimmicky thing, but when you see it, it looks great. The 3D effect is
amplified by the movement. ttfn –jp–
John, I have not tried any workarounds other than using the Silver 2
converter when going to silver 3. Since I use Silver at work for broadcast
TV production, as much as I'd like to, I haven't gotten into the 3D
glasses…not a lot of broadcast applications.
