Last night I downloaded STRTRK.EXE with no problem. When I tried to run the
program it loaded ok and asked for a Command. When I started to type the
command the Screen displayed the Main System Menu and I got the message
"Message 16 – Interrupts Off". I find I get the same results oneither of
the 2 RB 100's I have (one is a + and one is a B). I also tried doing as
the manual says and turned the computers off and on. The message did not
reappear until I again tried to run the program. Is this problem in any way
connected to the problem I described earlie this week regarding running
MicroSoft Word?
Sorry, Paul, I didn't pay much attention to your Word problem (I use
WordPerfect). I used the Microsoft BASIC Compiler to make the executable.
Have you tried loading the ASCII version into MBasic and running it that
way?
The only things I can think of are (a) you have a TSR that's getting in the
way of the input routines, or (b) you have an earlier version of MS-DOS
than mine was compiled for (I'm running 3.0 for the 'Bow).
Let me ask … were you able to answer the "Random Number" prompt and get
the Long & Short Range windows before it died? (I assume you did if you got
the "Command" prompt.) Try using a number like "123" or "418", i.e., any
number greater than zero and less than one thousand.
The "Interrupts Off" sounds like the MHFU sanity-check. Were you using
CapsLock, or did you hold the shift key while typeing the command? (Hey,
I'm clutching at straws, here!) I dunno … check your SetUp and see if
the Lock key is set for Shift or Caps.

This won't provide much help for Paul, but for the record, I did the
download testing of STRTRK before it was made "public" in Lib 3, and I
experienced no problem, other than that I don't have a pilot's license to
fly a space ship.
So I agree with your suggestions that Paul might check to see whether a
TSR is interfering or something like that. By the way, I always have my
lock key set for Shift; I just had to unshift to enter numbers, and if I
forgot, I got a friendly prompt.

I too downloaded STRTRK, and it ran well on: 100+ with DOS 2.10 wiht
several TSR's (History, SwitchIt). No problems like those reported by
Paul. (Make that MS-DOS 2.11-1.)
