Bill, it has been over two years since I logged on to the DECPC Forum….its good to be back. I need some help with conversion of a disk. I have a DEC Rainbow disk with a file on it (388K). The file is in WordPerfect format. I need to convert this disk/file to IBMPC disk media. Do you know anyone who can do this? Thankks for the help. Tom Hamilton

Tom, Am I correct in assuming that you have no Rainbow to work with? If the IBM PC in question has a high-density (1.2Mb) disk drive, you can simply use the RX50 device driver which is in the Libs here (I forget which one… check the Hardware lib, or check the library-index that's in lib 1). Put this driver on the PC and you can read the Rainbow disk on the PC. Alternatively, my company can copy it for you on a fee-for-service basis; drop me a Mail message if you want to pursue that. -Bill

Uh, are you the Tom Hamilton who went to R.I.T. many long years ago? If not…. never mind!

Tom, It looks like BillM beat me to the punch and offered you a hand already. I fell behind a bit trying to get my sessions here on CIS automated. I'm just getting the hang of it, and should be back in the fold of things now <grin>. If you have any other questions/problems don't hesitate to ask. Bill

Tom, I use an AT clone with 1.2 meg drive and Mediamaster. The combo lets me read and write to DEC RX-50 disks. WordPerfect files transfer OK, though usually need <control-z>'s deleted from the end of the document. Ed
