#RetroGraphic VT640
8 messages in this thread
I recently rescued a couple of VT-100's from the salvage yard for parts.
One of them had an extra circuit board inside by Digital Engineering, and a
logo of `RETRO-GRAPHICS'. When attempting to use this gadget with an
RSX-11M TT driver, I would get some interesting and strange results. The
extra board also calls itself a `VT-640'. Does anyone know what it is?

Uh…I think the RetroGraphics modification to the VT100 gave it some sort
of Tektronics (4010?) capability. If Neal Krandall is looking over our
shoulder, he will probably know — he used to have a couple at the place
where he worked.

Jerry, I picked up a couple of those VT640 terminals on the used market
several years ago. I have a copy of the manual that goes with them. If
you want me to make a copy for you, please let me know. Joe.
Well, Joe, I don't know. Is the VT640 compatible with ANYTHING? Like
REGIS, maybe? Sounds like it is an add-on that has had it's day. (As if
VT-100 wasn't a clue). Jerry
According to the manual the VT640 is compatible with the Tektronix Plot 10
software.
Thanks, Joe. Since I have no need to further clutter up my office
landscape, I will pass on your offer of the manual. Now, if no one wants a
VT640 modification for their VT100, I will pitch the add-on board. Any
takers?? It's free!! Jerry
Jerry, I'll take as a spare for the two VT640 terminals that I have. You
can send it UPS or US Mail to: Joseph A. Bruno, 612 Main Street,
Pittsburgh, PA 15215. I can send you a check to cover shipping if you
want. Thanks, Joe.
I'll get it on the way to you shortly. No prob on postage. Hope it works
for you. Jerry
