#Setting up a new drive
5 messages in this thread
Maybe you HD experts can help me out. I'm new to setting up directories
and subs ona hard drive. While putting DPaint in a new drawer, I also
created some file drawers inside rawer. When I click ona picture icon, I
get the message to please insert DPaint in any drive. Why can't it find
it? Do I need to assign these drawers or something?
Chris,
The ICONs have a default "tool", it'll be DPaint:DPaint.
You can fix it for your current files by changing them all to your
new disk and directory. However, that can be a real pain, and also, it
won't help at all for any new ICONs that you create.
So the simple way out is to simply add a line to your startup
script that assigns DPaint: to the hard drive drawer where you have the
program.
example, you have DPaint, and it's files in a drawer called
"DPaint" on the drive called DH0:
ASSIGN DPaint: DH0:DPaint
or if you had it in a drawer called "artwork" on a disk called fh1:
it'd be:
assign dpaint: fh1:artwork

Thanks Don. I knew there had to be some DOS trick. That piece of info
about Icon tools is real useful. I guess I could read the manuals, but I
sure appreciate the help whwen I call.

check the icon info yto be sure…
Thanks for the info Arnie. Hopefully I'll have a chance to try it out
tomorow.
