#Upgrade Amiga 1000?
6 messages in this thread
Welcome, Hap.
Almost any hard drive made for the Amiga 500 will also work on the 1000.
Commodore made the 570 to go with the 500, and several third parties have
made them as well. The one from Commodore came with only a 20M drive, but
larger ones could be used. Some of the others are larger straight from
the factory. To use one of them on the A1000, you just turn them around
backwards and put them on the expansion bus. Most of them also have
sockets for adding 2M or so of extra memory, which does help a great deal.

Hi Betty,
I have a A1000 myself. What worried me about Turning around the add on that
something would fry, like my A1000.

Well Gosh You All! I'm overwhelmed! Rather than attempt a response to each of
you kind folks, I'm just tacking one to All here at the current high message #.
I really appreciate the responses and need to digest & organize the info. If
further questions arise, you may be _sure_ that I know where to come for help!
Regards, a more well-informed, Hap E
Hap,
Let us know how things turn out…
and HAP E trails to you <sorry, couldn't resist>
Paul, I haven't done it myself, but I sure know lots of people who have
done it, and have never heard of anyone having troubles.

That might be my answer to upgrading my Amiga. Thanks Betty
